Trial lessons: First contact with horses for newbies: During grooming and saddling, you can get your first feel for your horse. Afterwards, you will explore the world from horseback.
Riding lessons for beginners and advanced: Depending on your current level, we will work individually with you to achieve the next steps. Priority lies on horse- and human-friendly teaching techniques.
Dressage lessons: For advanced riders, that want to further refine their aids and communication with the horse, as well as explore the gymnastic benefits of dressage riding based on horse-friendly methods.
Natural Horsemanship and Liberty dressage: Understanding and communication on the ground: Learn to read the horse and use your own (often unconscious) body language effectively. During liberty training, you can test the communication between you and your horse and further refine it.
Hacking: Relaxed trail rides for advanced riders through the Portuguese countryside and down to the beautiful river Criz.
All horse activities must be booked at least 1 day in advance.
Horse riding is possible until a max. weight of 85kg. Thank you for your understanding!
Cancellations must be done at least 24 hours before the lessons or will be charged fully.
The students are expected to arrive at the school 30 minutes before the lessons.
The usage of proper riding equipment consisting of boots, breeches and helmet is obligatory. During the first lessons, the students can wear jogging trousers and trainers.
Hacking is possible only for experienced riders that are confident in walk, trot and canter. Quinta Lusitânia reserves the right to cancel booked hacks if the riders don´t show sufficient control and confidence on horseback. It might be necessary to demonstrate sufficient experience in the riding arena previous to the hacking.
For beginners, there is the possibility of a guided hack with one person directing the horse by hand.
Quinta Lusitânia does not rent out horses for autonomous hacking. All hacks are accompanied by a guide.
